I swear to brush the tooth, the whole tooth, and all around the tooth
First use:It was a dark and stormy night.Okay, it actually wasn't stormy, and it wasn't technically "night", seeing that it was two in the morning, but it WAS very, very dark. Not a creature was stirring, not even my , when I crept to the bathroom to try out my new toothbrush. I had read all the instructions twice, and having waited the minimum two hour charging period, I was ready.Fearlessly, I pushed the shiny button until a green light appeared beside the Max Care routine. None of that sissy "sensitive" or "one minute" stuff for me - I wanted it all!! With a steady hand, I wet the bristles and applied some toothpaste, then confidently pressed the green button........... and nearly jumped out of my skin.It was noisier than I thought it...

Goodbye Oral-B, you were good, but not this good
I have been a very happy Oral-B (Braun) user for about the last 4 years. During that time I've gone through 2 of their higher-end brushes. I've never been one to bad-mouth Sonicare, because it's a good brush, but I just preferred the smaller size of the Oral-B, along with the pop-off brush heads. Now however, Sonicare has changed that with their new model, the Flexcare.I purchased this model because it was recommended by a dentist who said that the new Flexcare is not just a new style of brush, but that it actually has a greatly improved brushing technology. So, I bought a brush online and proceeded to try it out. Wow.After having used the Flexcare, it doesn't even seem possible to compare it to my old Oral-B (which is only a year old.) This brush actually seems 20 years more advanced, and that is not an exaggeration. It has a bit of a high-pitch to it which doesn't bother me, but the real story is in the vibration. Noisy but works extremely well
I have used sonicare products for years and have progressively moved up the product line. This new Flexcare model is as they say, lighter, sleeker, smaller, but they did not mention its also louder than any other model. I did a side by side comparison using my older elite 7300 and the new flexcare model is much louder and raspier than the older unit. I called Sonicare today and they confirmed that the flexcare model is louder, but has less vibrations in the hand. Big deal. I expected it to be much quieter.My dislike with the previous Sonicare models was the large screw-on brush head that always got a gunky build up inside of it.No more,the brush head is completely new and similar to the Oral-B type. The brush head now just snaps on. Nice Product
I have researched the Sonicare toothbrushes and found the best value to be this new model, I am very happy with it. I read all the reviews for the other models,held them in my hand at the Department store and found the only difference between this and the higher priced models is in the style of the handle and the fancy lights showing the remaining battery life. Also the Elite models have the beep every 30 seconds during the 2 minute timer. This model has all the features I need: Easy reach brush(Uses same replacement heads as the Elite models),2-minute timer. Since these things only last a couple of years anway, what's the sense of spending another $30 or more for features you don't need to clean your teeth. Buy this toothbrush and use the money you saved to buy replacement heads. Update March 20,2012: Wow this thing lasted me 7 years!!! I just ordered another one from Amazon today!

Good Experience With Sonicare
The Sonicare Essence is my second Sonicare toothbrush. Previously, I used an Advance, which lasted about four and a half years. Prior to that, I had a different brand of electric brush. Some observations follow.In general, any Sonicare would be a wise investment for you. No question, years of using it have saved me time and money at the dentist. By now you've seen from the other reviews how effective it is at cleaning your teeth. As I get older, I'm finding just how effective a job it also does at slowing my gum recession. I consider the sonic system superior over other brand's rotating mechanical approaches, which seemed to have more of an unpleasant taste and couldn't be used with just any brand or style of toothpaste, unlike the Sonicare.The Essence and Elite models use the more slender heads versus the Advance. What an electric toothbrush should be
This is my second attempt at having an electric toothbrush. The first attempt was with an . That was a terrible experience that left me with headaches after using it and teeth that didn't feel clean. (it's nw in a box in my closet collecting dust).On the other hand this Phillips Sonicare Flexcare toothbrush is a great experience. The brush head is nice and compact, but still covers the entre tooth surface being cleaned. It provides a nice pause to remind you to switch quadrants of your mouth. Works great, but it is way over priced for the features
I want to stress that this brush works superbly. My 3 stars are for the value/bang for your buck aspect of this product.I have used three other electric brushes besides this one. One was a very early model Sonicare, the other two were Braun Oral-B models. ALL of them worked great. The three other brushes I've used have all had excellent durability. And I never had a single cavity with any of them.There are really just two major differences between these two brands. Brauns tend to have smaller heads and they have a kind of rotating pulsing motion. Sonicare models have more of a vibration motion and, in my experience, tend to tickle a bit more. Your mileage may vary. In my experience, Braun brush heads also tend to be a little cheaper.All the electric toothbrush makers make claims about being the "best." However, as one major dental site commented, "There are currently no studies that we are aware of that compare objectively electric...

decent brush, but only recommended if money is no conern to you
I have used many rechargeable toothbrushes in the recent years - many different models of Oral B and very recently the latest WaterPik Sensonic. This is actually the first time I'm using a Philips SonicCare. Here are my impressions/opinions:Pro- Brush body is light and highly portable. Many competitor models that offer comparable brush speed/features tend to be bulkier.- Decent clean and polish. The model claims to be better than competitors, I have no way of verifying this claim myself. However, I find the brushing result to be at least as good as higher-end Oral-B and the WaterPik Sensonic.- Essential timers - 2-minute brushing timer and 30-second quad timers. All other models have them, it is good these essential features are left untouched.- Portable, all-voltage charger that's perfect for international travelers. Sonicare More Effective Than Oral B in NWU Study
My best friend has been raving about his Sonicare Elite for over a year now-- encouraging me to try it. I did a little research and saw that OralB had a similar product and wondered which had a better product-- Sonicare or Oral B. My friend finally convinced me that the Sonicare product is superior, and then I read a review on Amazon from a hygenist who said that she went to a continuing education seminar and learned that Oral B was found to be superior...At that point, I decided to do some research. I found a Northwestern University study conducted over a 6 month period. Patients with the Sonicare did much better, but don't take my word for it. A very frugal product --spend $22.50 every year, save $10,000.
Spend $22.50 a year and save $10,000? How does that work? Well, a couple of my close relatives have spent well over $10,000 each having their teeth and gums repaired. If you've had periodontal work or had root canal, implants, crowns or bridges done, you know that figure is not an exaggeration, and you're lucky if your insurance covers even a little bit of it. Having seen my relatives go through that, I've decided that as I get older, I want to spend my money on vacations and real estate, and not on painful dental procedures.That's why the Sonicare is the most frugal product I've bought. Good but expensive
Sonicare Elites are better than average electronic toothbrushes, but you should know what you're getting into before you buy a kit. Electronic toothbrushes use the the Gilette model: sell the shavers for cheap, get them on the razor blades. Inkjet printers also use this model.All marketing hype aside, the truth of the matter is the actual cost of the consumables should be a fraction of what you're paying. For example, it is technically possible to create an inkhead that refills like a gas tank, but the printer companies would tell you otherwise because such a design would cut into their fat margins. So instead of paying less for ink bottles in bulk, you (the consumer) have to pay up the wazoo for relatively little amounts of ink in proprietary plastic boxes.Same with Sonicare replacement brushes: instead of paying a couple bucks for just a new brush head with bristles (costing about the same as a new manual toothbrush), you have to pay $10 for a toothbrush head that comes in its...

Sonicare Brush Heads
These are great heads to allow more users for one unit as the Sonicare system is expensive. They are great replacement heads when old brushes wear out and are economical as well. The Sonicare System is amazing. My teeth feel like I just came from the dentist. I would never want to be without it. The brushes are also the perfect size for getting those hard to reach places as well as doing the bigger areas. I love my Sonicare system and the brushes that I purchased separately for added usability.

Sonicare toothbrush is the best
The Sonicare electric toothbrush makes my teeth feel squeaky-clean. I won't even deign to use a manual brush anymore. I need to be sure they're clean since I'm a student and don't live in Canada, France, UK, Thailand, China, Japan, Cuba, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, Spain, or the Netherlands and can't afford health or dental insurance.
