it works wonders
I started with Thera breath by doctor katz and switched to Perio theraphy when I found it in a local drugstore. My gums were so bad, I didn't want to go to the dentist. The plaque build up was so bad, the hygienist was only able to clean one quadrant per visit. After using Perio therapy for one week I saw a significant improvement. After two weeks, I was able to use my water pik and floss without any blood or discomfort. The swelling and soreness is gone and I swear my gums are tightening up. I am now ready to make that long overdue appointment with the dentist. I've got my husband using it and it has significantly reduced his bad breadth. It may be a little expensive, but I find I use a little less and regardless it has worked a miracle.

No Other Explanation - It Works!
I have deep pockets, significant bone loss, instanta calcium issues, and have never had simple cleanings. They have always been deep scaling, always in multipule visits and always painful. It's not like I ignor my teeth, which are really great, but I have bad gum tissue and always have. Recently I had my annual examination, back in April, and of course, same old story, mostly pockets above six, and several 12's. I started using this product, and not as per instructions and only the tooth paste. I changed dentist and this week I was re-examined. This dentist was provided a copy of my last chart and the results were incredible. When the dentist asked the hygenist how these results compared to the last chart.........she said there was a dramatic difference! The dentist wanted to know what I was doing different. I told him nothing other then using this tooth gel. I had most 4's and 6's and only 2 12's and actually some zero's. I serisouly can't believe it, it has to be this toothpaste.

Worked fast on swollen, receding gums
Please see the addendum at the bottom of this review.If you are looking for minty-fresh or fizzy, this isn't what you seek, but if you want to take a good shot at fixing your troubled gums yourself, this is worth it.I had one area of my mouth where gum loss was apparent - the gum had receded upwards leaving an evident "hole" next to the top of the tooth where gum should be. Trying different things, I'd coax it back down, but it would recede again. The two teeth in the area were getting wiggly too. Recently a swelling had appeared high over the tooth, initially not painful, but getting tender-er as it grew. Great product for reversing effects of periodontal disease
I had a rude awakening at the dentist about three years ago when I was told my gums were practically going to rot if I did not do something about early onset for gum disease. Two hours of hell in that dentist chair to get rid of all the bacteria under my gums was enough to straighten me out. From then on I started flossing more and using PerioTherapy as toothpaste. From that point my checkups take maybe 30 mins and the tooth cleanings were painless! Thank you Dr.Katz for creating something that actually works well for people with this disease.

My favorite store bought toothpaste!!!
This toothpaste is a clear gel and works well with my Sonicare Electric Toothbrush. This is a perfect everyday toothpase.(The Dr. Katz ultra whitening toothpaste is also wonderful, but I only use it occasionally--it is a little bit gritty and VERY thick, so it doesn't work as well with my Sonicare.)I have tried MANY MANY brands of toothpaste in ALL price ranges. I look for brands that are organic or have natural ingredients--"healthy toothpastes." I have also tried virtually every brand available at Walmart or comparable stores.Dr. Katz perio gel does a great job of cleaning my teeth and there is NO yucky aftertaste if I eat or drink something soon after brushing.My husband has commented that he misses having a flavoring added to his toothpaste. However, I appreciate not having cinnamon, mint or some other flavoring added. So, this may be a personal preferance to consider. I told hubby he can use a mouthwash if he wants to minty up...

Has worked for me so far.
I had some gum problems and also a breath problem. This rinse left something of a mild zinc aftertaste (or similar) in my mouth when I first started using it but that went away along with my gum problem. I have been using it for about 6 weeks now and have just re-ordered. This is very mild - nothing like explosive Listerine or other mouthwash products. It does not have a minty flavor etc if that is what you are expecting. Overall I am happy with this so far - it has worked for me. I use it in conjunction with the Perio Therapy gel for brushing.

Preventing and reversing gum disease
This is an excellent book written by a very dedicated dental hygienist who does her best to impart her years of acquired wisdom, so that we can take responsibility for our dental health and protect our teeth. The author teaches us that most people lose teeth as they get older, not because of tooth decay, but rather because of gum disease.She explains what happens and why, and goes on to teach us how to look after our gums, whether they are currently good, or in bad shape. The book has good tips and info that I found helpful reminders I already knew but needed to be refeshed about them I realized. A few things mentioned in the book I found worthy of pen highlighting. However, from the reviews I thought it to have something very outstanding I or most people wouldn't normally or have never known/heard about. Maybe perhaps too on a deeper level this is what I and many others are looking for...a miracle. Perhaps I have to be a bit realistic as well. I think for others who are totally new might find this book enlightening and helpful guide. Having been familar with Perio process first hand, natural heatlth remedies, and veganism...I didn't find the book all that unique or earth shattering. It is a nice, straightforward, primer/overview of some basic things. An important book
It's amazing how much people tend to neglect their teeth. Oh, plenty of people brush and floss, and visit their dentist. However, many people, even in this rather health-conscious society of ours, don't realize how much more there is to taking care of their mouths. Gum disease is incredibly prevalent and surprisingly detrimental to human health. Its effects on the human body can be more widespread than many people realize. In general, many dentists simply aren't interested in keeping people informed about what is needed to maintain their teeth and gums. Mr. Snape explores in depth what is necessary to keep one's gums and teeth healthy. He explains various diseases of the mouth, methods of treatment and prevention, and even provides excellent information on choosing medical care. A great deal of thought and research went into this book, and it is put together in clear and concise language. Gum disease isn't a particularly fun topic to read about. worthwhile, valuable info, so repetitive
A activist layman's book of his experiences with gum disease/disorders. Well-intentioned explanations of his experieces with dentists and his trials at finding products to help. Although the book is 244pp long it should be about half as long as it is extremely repetitive and extremely self-protective about adding disclaimers continually along the lines of "don't do anything without consulting your dentist", "there are no scientific studies to back this up", etc. I guess this is what one might expect in our combative legalistic systems with a tremendous overage of lawyers and a mis-designed legal system. Pretty much a one-of-a-kind book as I can determine(no others of that type out here--and current, only a few months old). I highly recommend the book for the information that can be gleaned by skimming over(ignoring repetition) most of the book, but paying close attention to recommendations in chapter 3(home care).
